Staying Motivated with my Lab

To say the last few years in the tech industry has been difficult for it's workers is an understatement. Last I checked, 20% of

workers in the Tech industry were laid off in 2022 and 2023. I'm sure most of these are startup companies and software developers, but those layoffs have a cascading effect on the rest of the industry. Anecdotal reports of prospective employees with Masters Degrees being rejected for entry-level roles have done little to ease my worries. .

As I find myself out of the industry for over a year during the uncertainties of an economic downturn, I've come to realize the importance of taking control of my own professional development. Setting up a home lab has become my personal sanctuary, a place where I can immerse myself in the latest technologies and sharpen my skills without the constraints of a traditional office environment. It's a space where I can tinker, experiment, and learn at my own pace, fueled by a genuine passion for staying ahead of the curve.
